Helpful Advice
Here are a few tips you may wish to consider (for younger campers) which may help to increase your childs camp experience.
Encourage independence – sleepovers and weekends away are good practice separations to help before any camp adventure.
Encourage your child to ask questions about the camp and involve them in the decision making process.
Discuss the camp and how it will be run before your child leaves – this will help to reassure and relax your child before the camp.
Send a note ahead of the camp, to be read by your child on arrival. A positive note such as , “I will really miss you, but hope you have an amazing camp in Verbier – We look forward to hearing about all the fun you will have.”
Include in your suitcase an object from home – for example a toy, or photograph.
Don’t feel bad about encouraging your child to go to camp. The first time is always daunting but don’t worry they will thank you later. Camp life is often the first step towards independence and maturity.
