Safety
At Altitude safety is our no 1 priority. Safety training is an integral part of every pre season staff training program, and you can rest assured that we leave no stone unturned.
Our camps are designed to comply with the provisions of the 1989 Children Act that imposes strict regulations for staff to child ratios (1:8), staff qualifications and types of equipment.
We regularly train our staff in safety procedures, including but not limited to, accident procedures, emergency communication process, off-trip policies and procedures, mountain safety rules. Altitude also has safety code of practice policy and a large amount of risk assessments for each and every activity and specialist academy.
All our staff members have been checked through the Criminal Records Bureau and have at least two references and recommendations to work with us on our camps. The majority of our staff are employed year round for Altitude and we have a proven track record in safety and professionalism.
All of our centres have a First Aid Director with a team of fully qualified First Aid specialists on site 24-hours a day. All medication that children bring with them is stored in a secure area and must be recorded on the medical form and handed to the First Aid Team at the time of registration, clearly labelled with instructions. Qualified First Aiders will dispense medications as determined by individual’s needs.
Emergencies
In the unlikely event of an emergency Altitude have access 24/7 to local doctors and are registered with all local hospitals - regional hospitals are 40 minutes drive by car, or 10 minutes by helicopter. The Swiss medical services offer first-class medical care and attention if required. In any such situation parents/guardians are notified as soon as possible.
Medical Forms
Before arriving in Switzerland it is necessary to complete a medical form for each child attending the camp. This will be sent to you with our welcome pack – it’s essential you fill this in and return it to us. This form is completely confidential and we encourage you to include every problem. Such problems as bed wetting are embarrassing perhaps, but we feel we can deal with and help these problems as long as we are forewarned. Please include on these forms everything which you believe could affect your child during their stay in Switzerland.
It goes without saying that Altitude will treat any personal information with sensitivity and total confidentiality.
