Next up on our list of day trips to experience is the beautiful and breath-taking Gorges Du Durnand in the town of Bovernier.

Located approximately 30 minutes from Verbier, the gorges isn’t for the faint-hearted but is definitely worth a visit for a fun day out! You will access over 14 cascades when wandering along the paths and walking along the suspended bridges (as well up the 330 steps, so wear some good grippy shoes!).

Formed in 1877, the Gorges was renovated over 30 years ago in 1987 and provides a stunning day trip for the family and nature lovers, particularly on a sunny day where you can see the blue sky and sun peeking out above! If you’re lucky, you may also find some wild blueberries and strawberries on the way!

Suitable for all ages above 4 years (although keep a tight hand on the younger ones!), the gorge is a perfect place to spend a morning or afternoon, and you can extend your day out to a full day by adding in lunch and maybe an afternoon shopping in Martigny.

If you are feeling peckish, there is a restaurant located at the bottom of the gorges serving typically Valaisan dishes. The restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday but open the rest of the week from 9am-11pm.
