International Summer Camps – Activity Leader
Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Ross came to Verbier seven years ago to train for his ISIA ski qualification with Altitude Ski School, and has stayed in Verbier ever since, in his own words, “because of the people, the mountains, and the town”.
He has lived in Switzerland year round for 4 years, working as an instructor and Gap Trainer for Altitude Ski School in the winters, and Altitude Summer Camp in the Summers. Last Summer Ross took a break from Verbier to enjoy a winter skiing in New Zealand, so he’s looking forward to some sun and good weather this Summer as he hasn’t seen one in two years! In Spring and Autumn, Ross works in Outdoor Education in Leysin, and has also previously worked with children as a camp counsellor at Village Camps.
Ross has a Master’s degree in Maths and Philosophy from Oxford University, and when he’s not working enjoys playing piano, swimming, and climbing.
Ross’ favourite activity at camp is excursion day, either during the week half day excursions or full day weekend trips with the residential campers; “the Aqua Parc is amazing!”.
This year he is most looking forward to meeting the new campers. In his free time he is also looking to start cycling; so is looking forward to some long climbs.
