About Altitude

Altitude was originally founded in 2001 as ski and snowboard school. Many years later, we’ve come a long way and now offer ski and snowboarding lessons and instructor training courses during the winter and our famous International Summer Camps during the summer!

Altitude Group

Altitude has grown from strength to strength and is renowned throughout the Alps for its quality of service and professional staff. Summer Camps Director Laura Turner is always on hand to ensure the smooth running throughout each and every camp.

The Altitude Summer Camps are part of the Altitude Group.

Our Core Values

At Altitude, we strive for our camps to be memorable, fulfilling and, most importantly, a fun summer experience for every camper. Our core values of Safety, Professionalism, Team Spirit, and Education remain at the heart of everything we do.

  • A Maximum of 50 Campers per Session

Small camp sessions of no more than 50 campers, mean that all our campers are known on an individual basis by each member of staff. This positive and supportive ‘home from home’ environment allows each camper to learn new skills and navigate new experiences, while remaining safe and happy at camp.

  • Small Group Sizes

Our group sizes, be these in language classes, mountain adventure groups or our afternoon programme, remain small with a high staff to camper ratio of 1:8 at all times, and 1:4 for our Marmot camp with our youngest campers.

  • A Safe Location

Our camp is based in Verbier, a quiet mountain town high in the Swiss alps, where campers can have the freedom to explore and experience the outdoors in a safe environment.

  • Qualified and Experienced Staff

Our staff are all police checked, first aid qualified and experienced in working in their designated roles with children and teenagers. Find out more about each of our staff members on our Meet the Team page.

  • An Experienced Management Team

Our camp programme is run by an experienced Operations Manager, supported by two Head Team Leaders and a Language Coordinator who assist in ensuring the smooth running of the programmes on a daily basis. Behind the scenes, our office team and Director Laura are on hand before, during, and after the camps to provide further support and assist in any way necessary.

  • A Bespoke, Personal Service

Altitude Camp Director Laura and her team personally handle each camper registration, and remain available together with our operations manager to every parent whilst their child is at camp, for any questions, problems or simply to provide an update on how their time at camp is going!

  • Quality Accommodation

Residential campers stay in our private Swiss style chalets, well equipped with modern two to four bedded rooms, all with private facilities. Full board is provided and includes a diverse range of healthy international and local Swiss home-cooked cuisine, with all dietary requirements catered for.

  • First Class Facilities

As well as having our own in-house facilities and equipment, our camp makes use of the fantastic facilities in and around Verbier. These include volleyball  and basketball courts, indoor and outdoor climbing walls, an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor beach pool, playgrounds, a multi-sport gymnasium, indoor ice rink, soccer pitches, squash courts, tennis courts , mini-golf course, golf driving range, cycling paths, and hiking trails with mountain huts for overnight stays.

  • A Dedicated, Year Round, Staff Team

Unlike many summer camps, the majority of our staff are employed by Altitude year round, working for our sister company Altitude Ski School in the winter months, and Altitude International Camps in the summer. Our high staff retention rates allow us to build experience within our team, and create a sense of community year after year.

  • Returning Campers

Our small camp with its family atmosphere means that many campers are excited to come back next year to reunite with staff, their camp friends, and even bring new friends from home! We like to let happy campers and parents do the talking, so please feel free to read our Testimonials page to see what families of previous campers have to say.

  • Memories to last a lifetime

Altitude Camp offers campers real opportunities to form close international friendships whilst learning new skills, making memories and having lots and lots of fun. We know that parents like to share in their child’s camp experience as well, and we try to keep you up to date with as much of the campers experience as possible while they are away, on our Facebook, Instagram, and by creating a video of each camp session as well as a private ‘Parent Photo Album’ so you can see and download photos of your camper and their friends.

  • Native Language Teachers and Team Leaders

Altitude only employ qualified, native language teachers for their French or English programmes within the Language Camp, as we believe that this attention to detail can make all the difference to your camper’s learning. On our activities programme, Native English staff are employed so that every camper is encouraged to speak in English outside their lesson, to improve English language development as well as ensure inclusivity for all campers, whatever their nationality and mother tongue.

  • Refined, Structured Camp Programmes

Altitude offers three structured programmes, our Language Camp, Mountain Adventure Camp and Marmot Programme, which we have carefully developed over the years to ensure each provides a fun a valuable learning experience, with session goals specific for each age group.  Each camper receives a certificate of their accomplishments at the prize ceremony at the end of camp.

  • Personal Development and Growth

We recognise that camp is an important developmental experience for every camper, as they learn to live and interact with others from both their own and different cultural backgrounds, as well as develop their self-esteem, independence, and learn new skills. A sense of responsibility and accomplishment are nurtured by staff in each camper, and they return home having taken much more from their experience than they will realise.
