English Language Mornings

Our English language programme offers campers the opportunity to improve their English reading, writing and speaking skills with other children from all over the world.

Campers will take part in morning language lessons from 09h00 – 12h00, Monday to Friday. Our English teachers are native speakers who are both qualified and experienced in teaching English as a foreign language, encouraging children to develop confidence in their language skills whilst acquiring and improving the fundamentals of vocabulary, conversation and grammar.

At Altitude, we believe that language lessons at camp should not feel like school. Class sizes are a maximum of 8 children per teacher split by age and ability level, often with smaller group sizes, so that each student receives one-on-one attention during each session.

Focus is placed on developing conversational skills and confidence when speaking English, and classroom-based activities are interspersed with activities outside the classroom, such as practicing their new direction vocabulary on a treasure hunt or visits to the town centre.

Action-packed afternoons

At camp, English is spoken by all staff as well as being the common language amongst the children at camp, and it is this immersive environment that provides such a fantastic opportunity for campers to put their improved English skills to use even once morning classes are finished.

Campers from all programmes come together for lunch at 12h00, followed by afternoon activities in groups with their activity leader. These include a variety of sports, excursions, team building games and exciting adventures throughout the week and at weekends for those staying for multiple week sessions.

During the afternoons, campers follow a set programme each day to encourage them to take part in all the different activities that are on offer, ranging from tennis, swimming, high ropes courses, mini golf and team games to trips such as visiting the ever-popular adventure park ‘Labyrinthe’.

Evenings together

Our residential programme includes the unique experience of staying away from home at camp with new friends from all over the world. Popular with those both from Switzerland and countries all over the world, children will make international friends, learn life skills and enjoy an evening programme each day, as well as weekends of activities and excursions.

Daytime activities at camp finish at 16.00 when our residential campers have ‘free time’ in which many take additional private classes, enjoy some relaxation time or trips to town with friends. This is followed by dinner, and an evening activity, involving anything from cooking classes, art sessions or an evening at the golf driving range.
